Lab41 is a research lab where the U.S. Intelligence Community comes together with their counterparts in academia, industry, and In-Q-Tel to tackle big data.

Innovation Through Collaboration

When it comes to data analytics, it can be difficult to know where to start, what to ask, or how to ask it.

Lab41 allows participants from diverse backgrounds to gain access to ideas, talent, and technology to explore what works and what doesn’t in data analytics. An open, collaborative environment, Lab41 fosters valuable relationships between participants.

Four Groups, One Mission

Lab41 is a Silicon Valley research lab where experts from the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC), academia, industry, and In-Q-Tel come together to gain a better understanding of how to work with – and ultimately use – data analytics. IQT Labs LLC is a wholly owned research venture of In-Q-Tel, Inc.

Lab41 focuses on these three core areas:

Applied Machine Learning

Applied Machine Learning

Can machine learning solve relevant problems?

We are looking at cybersecurity and genomic domains.

Computer Vision

Computer Vision

Can machines really see?

We are looking at re-identification and object extraction.

Audio & Speech

Audio & Speech

Can machines really hear?

We are looking at de-noising and speaker separation.

In-Q-Tel (IQT) is the independent, strategic investor for the Central Intelligence Agency and the broader U.S. Intelligence Community.

Founded in 1999, IQT connects government, startups, and the Venture Capital community to accelerate innovation to further the IC mission.

IQT Labs represent strategic initiatives established to explore new and disruptive technologies, uncover solutions, and demonstrate the art of the possible in a variety of technology areas. Lab41 was established by IQT as a proving ground for the IC, academia, and startups, to experiment and collaborate on big data challenges.
